Emergency Manual Fuel Door Release For VW Jetta MK5

fuelreleaseI’m in the process of replacing the Drivers Door Window Motor, which happens to contain the control system for the trunk and fuel door release. As I have a week before it gets here I thought I would seek out how to manually open the fuel door. Searching online led to various ways to do it, with no clear knowledge. On the older VW Jetta’s there was a manual way to open it in the trunk. On our 2006.5 Jetta TDI there isn’t.

I set out to fix this issue, so I did a quick DIY Video on locating and manually opening the fuel door on a VW Jetta MK5 Model Year 2006, good for 2005.5, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010. Golf, Passat Etc. In the Video I include how to add a manual emergency pull handle into your trunk for easy manual fuel door release for future use.
