About

Welcome To Ricks DIY

Hello my name is Rick Brodersen, and I have spent 15+ Years of my life doing Commercial & Residential HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration) Service. I’m also a Licensed Electrician & Gas Piping Mechanic and have numerous other trade related certifications. I’ve instructed at local trade schools and now I want to reach out to those that don’t have the time for traditional schooling just to learn a few tips or basic maintenance.

I have created this site into what I know will be an informative and helpful guide for anyone willing to give a little time to learn how to do it themselves. Not only can you save some money but you will gain valuable skills.

I really enjoy teaching and helping but now that I have a growing family, time is very scarce these days. I always felt overwhelmed with the amount of people who wanted a little help or some guidance when it came to their own equipment.

This will mostly be through Video’s I post here, they will also have articles to go along with the videos for reference or for those who prefer to learn through reading. I will also reach out to the community for help in building this into what I know it can be. The Best Reference & Learning Guide for DIY HVAC & Electrical.

More About My Personal Journey:

Finding inspiration in life can be very easy for some and more challenging for others. I never thought when I was younger I would look back now at my parents and be inspired by them, but in fact that’s what has happened. I was very fortunate to have really great parents who loved us whole heartily and showed me rather than tell me how to live life. Don’t get me wrong I heard enough times about treating others how you would like to be treated and other parent wisdom’s.

My Dad was a very kind & helping soul, there were numerous times growing up and we would be driving and all of sudden we would be pulling over to help someone. Whether it was getting gas for someone, helping push a car off to the side of the road or even just giving someone a lift my dad wasn’t afraid to help. I can’t remember a single time we didn’t help someone who looked like they needed it. He had more friends than I thought possible and all around town people knew him even though he wasn’t anyone in particular.

My Mom ran a in home Day Care center and I can’t begin to tell you the sacrifices she made to give all the kids that came through there the best that she could. In fact as a family we sacrificed but at the time I didn’t know any better. She loved all the kids equally as anyone probably could, now being a parent myself I don’t know where she got all the energy from. She would always take care of others as if they were her own, and both her and my dad would always tell me to treat everything from people to objects as if it were my own.

I have carried that on through my life, from friends to equipment at work…I treat them as good as I can. I’m not sure what it is, but for some reason I really gravitate to someone who needs something fixed, or looked at because it just isn’t working right. For me that’s my challenge and passion. I want to help, so here I am wanting to help you, guide you if I can.
